Writing has always been my passion, now it's my purpose. My first poem where I wrote of my adventures of being “Wonder Woman” with a chocolate-covered lasso, was published by Santa Barbara News-Press when I was in the third grade. That same year, I was identified as gifted and continued to hone my skills writing a number of colorful stories about aliens, government cheese, and my adventures as a Girl Scout. "The Magic of Twins" is my first published book. It started as an ode to my fraternal twin daughters Caylin and Makayla, to cheer them up. After looking forward to attending the Annual Twin Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio, for years, their trip was cancelled due to Covid-19. Collaborating with them on this book not only took their mind off of the pandemic and gave them something to look forward, but it also made them realize how special it is to be a twin.
Writing children's books allows me to share and create colorful stories for an audience less jaded by Hollywood's obsession with finding the next Block Buster. Short stories, rhyming words, and beautiful illustrations create magical moments that mold a child's mind and incites their imagination.
I write books and tell stories for all people, all ages. I like themes that instill morals, empower, and make people laugh. Sometimes the drama from my own life fills a page or two; or a nightmare that kept me up all night finds its way into a story. From heartfelt to humor, fantasy to fright, story-telling is my passion and I'll never tell a story that has no purpose.
Screenwriting will always be my first love but, writing children's books are a very close second.
My job. Having worked at HBO for 13 years, I have built a number of meaningful relationships (internally and externally) and learned first-hand the power of great storytelling. Because of that, I am able to create characters and stories which are captivating, clever, and most importantly unforgettable.
My friends. They have been instrumental. They provide me with authentic feedback and great book ideas. They are truly my brand ambassadors.
My family. Without them where would I be? They are not only my community but my village. Their encouragement and support, motivates me to keep writing and sharing my voice with the world.
Me. That's who it all starts with.
As a teen mom, having survived three teenagers, a set of twins, and a lifetime of trial-and-error, my life experiences have been nothing short of amazing.
I've snorkeled with sting rays in the Indian Ocean, zip-lined through a ball of fire in a Mexican Jungle, and slept in a treehouse 4,000 feet above sea-level in a Costa Rican Cloud Forest. My passion for traveling has allowed me to see the world, connect with other cultures, and discover some of God's most glorious creations.
My journey hasn't been easy, but it's gotten me to where I am now.
I want to THANK everyone that has taken the time to read about me to this point. I look forward to interacting with you and finding inspiration from your experiences and encouragement from your words and reviews. Through my social media links and my blog "The Jaxson 5," I hope to meet even more incredible people that will champion me to keep pushing forward and grow with me as we continue through this journey, called Life.
My motto: DREAM, LIVE, LOVE
